Information About the Pallet Challenge
As the world record for the largest food drive in a 24-hour period is attempted to be broken, there are three specific requirements that must be met while collecting and totaling the pounds of food:
All donated items:
-
must not be expired
-
must be “ding” free
-
may not be collected by the Food For Freedom organization prior to May 25, 2013
To make this collection as simple and smooth as possible, and to maximize our potential to reach our goal, we are asking that area businesses and groups join us in the “Pallet Challenge.”
PARTICIPATE IN THE PALLET CHALLENGE
Please consider conducting a monetary food collection.
-
Local grocers are charging Food For Freedom premiere pricing which means more food for the dollar!
-
Encourage your employees to contribute by making a monetary donation towards the purchase of cases or pallets of food on behalf of your company.
-
All funds will then be donated to Food For Freedom and cases and pallets of food will be purchased from local grocers.
-
This eliminates any collection or storage of product on your end.
-
Your company has an opportunity to get creative with this challenge! What a great way to spruce up employee morale in the dead of winter with a little fun around the office or shop or in the workroom. See “Food Drive Ideas” and/or come up with your own.
-
Arrange the challenge for a day, a week, a month, or a weekly event for the next three months for your company and employees.
-
Finally, will your company match the employee contributions?
HOW MUCH IS A PALLET?
-
An average pallet may weigh approximately 1,000 pounds.
-
To break the record, we need approximately 560 pallets!
-
How many pallets (or cases) can you help to purchase?
-
All donated funds are tax deductible.
